Early in the 1980’s, God planted a dream for a Christian school in North Auckland in the hearts of Graham Braddock, Bruce McNair and David Self. As they shared this possibility, the faith of many others was ignited to see this dream fulfilled. In 1986 the KingsWay Trust was established to provide a vehicle for the dream become a reality.
Through prayer, teamwork, and a sharp eye for using well the resources God supplied, plans came together and in 1983 an Early Childhood Centre was established in Red Beach. This was quickly followed by a school, well known today as KingsWay School opening in 1986 with one teacher and 10 students.
In 1990 a new school was built in Silverdale to accommodate the growing roll and the school continued to see significant growth through the diligence, generosity and faithfulness of so many.
With God’s grace and provision, KingsWay grew and saw it introduce a secondary school in 1992. In 2006, KingsWay adopted Jireh School as a satellite, which opened with eight students using the premises of Kumeu Baptist Church.
In 2011, KingsWay School adopted another school as a satellite; the bi-cultural, bi-lingual school in Helensville called Tau Te Arohanoa Akoranga. TTAA opened its doors with 30 students.
The growth was then exponential.
In 2006, Jireh moved to a new location in West Auckland to help accommodate its growth.
2013 saw a new Early Childhood Centre open in Millwater.
KingsWay was blessed with a new junior campus in 2014, adjacent to the Early Childhood Centre.
In 2016 the KingsWay Trust became proprietor of Horizon School (formerly known as Mahurangi Christian School) and assumed the Proprietorship responsibility from the Franklin Christian Education Trust for KingsGate School in Pukekohe.
In 2018, Jireh Christian School became a stand-alone integrated School and relocated to their permanent home on the Avondale campus, previously home to the Immanuel Christian School.
In 2018, a further Early Learning Centre was added to the KingsWay Preschools fold with the addition of the Snells Beach facility, supporting the adjacent Horizon School.
In 2019, Horizon School begins its journey as a Year 1 - 13 composite school, providing a pathway for families and students to experience a Christian education throughout their school years.
