Tina Utting
Principal
Tina Utting-Johnson is the Principal of Horizon School. Originally from Wales, Tina is married with two sons, one of whom is a pupil at Horizon school. Her teaching journey has seen her hold a number of Leadershp roles at Macleans College, Marlborough Girls College and Catholic Cathedral College in Christchurch.
Tina’s teaching background is in Digital Technology, Computer Science, Business Studies, Finance and English. Outside of the classroom Tina has led across school Digital Pedgaogy, Curriculum redevelopment, Special Character, Professional Development and HR and staff induction. Tina is passionate about faith based education and seeing all ākonga excel in each aspect of school life.

With a range of rich, collaborative and flexible education programmes staff ensure that students are engaged, happy and successful in their learning and prepared for the world beyond school.
Horizon School has a creative and reflective staff working to inspire and challenge our learners. It is great to see self-management and enthusiasm in response to new learning. Laughter and sparkling eyes are common. Our roll is growing and we have new classrooms, staffroom and offices to meet the needs of our expanding school community
We are a Composite School, for students from Years 1 - 13, providing that pathway to allow students and families to complete their compulsory education journey at the same place.
At Horizon School we value strong relationships with our community and we welcome visitors, many of whom come to observe, volunteer, inquire or enrol.
